“Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet Him” [Matt 25:6]
I am sure others have heard this call to readiness. The ears of my heart tingle and so I proclaim what makes this so. I do not try and convince but to convict.
In ancient Israel as the bridegroom would return to the city for his betrothed a trumpet blast would be sounded for those of the bridal party in anticipation of his arrival, so too I believe it is time for us to sound the trumpet of Christ’s return, to trim our lamps (Matt 25:7) and ready ourselves for His return – in this our generation!
Those of us who have heard this trumpet call to prepare and are convicted by the Spirit need now to be as “the faithful and sensible slave” and ‘feed His household their food at this proper time’. (Matt 24:45) as sadly there are plenty to feed and much hunger exists in His household.
Unfortunately, proclaiming this as the generation of Christ’s return will have many, especially in church leadership, scoffing at this message from His Spirit but, it will be proclaimed and received! Jesus Himself will deal personally with those who oppose and mock His call – as He labels them “evil slaves”, they will pay a dear price for their charlatan religiosity (Matt 24:48). Be sure of this, His bride will hear His call! As regarding those in church leadership – there is no prerequisite, no requirement of approval from any ecclesiastical body to confirm the witness of the Holy Spirit.
His bride, the Church is already starting to hear His call albeit, faintly. They are sensing in their hearts that the Spirit is moving. What now is needed is Holy Spirit led leadership to confirm this to them in their hearts, to agree with them and to show them the way. We must give to His household their food at the proper time – that proper time is NOW! (Matt 24:45).
So to those whom the word of the Lord has been revealed RISE UP! and blow the trumpet of the approaching bridegroom, of the return of our GOD and KING to this evil world, but unlike His first appearing this time He will be a MIGHTY WARRIOR! to rescue and judge.
Courage is a requirement for this battle and it must be gained. Remembering how few were anticipating Christ’s first appearance in the world and how singularly they must have differed from others as they proclaimed that this baby before them was Emmanuel – God with us.
We must not be like Zacharias who, as a consequence of his disbelief was made mute (Luke 1:18). Instead, we must be as Simeon who knew by the Spirit what time it was (Luke 2:25-32) and as Anna who was “..speaking to all those who were looking for the redemption of Jerusalem” (Luke 2:38). The Lord had revealed to both Simeon and Anna His word because they had been active in seeking Him.
Those meek and humbled of heart were also made aware of His birth of His appearing, the lowly shepherds! Also notice that even a few years after His birth it was kings from the east – from another country! who recognized Jesus to be God among us and worshiped Him; yet, still no religious leaders. Even Herod feared the birth of this ‘king’ – all this is to point out that the church leadership can most assuredly be a great blessing in the proclamation of His trumpet call to the “five virgin church”, yet they are not required for us to act on our belief of what the Spirit is personally revealing to us.
This message of the trumpet must be mightily clear, unequivocal: JESUS CHRIST IS RETURNING – WAKE UP -GET READY -WE ARE THE GENERATION! “Trim your lamps” (Matt 25:7), and as in ancient Israel, before the wedding ceremony the bride would take part in a ritual cleansing, so too the His bride .
We will need to anticipate and prepare for the false doctrines belived so deeply by the ‘sleeping church’ (not really so much doctrines as beliefs). The two immediate errors; 1 – a “secret rapture”, the belief that the church will not experience that awful time of the tribulation and 2 – the error that the generation of Christ’s return cannot be known. Be prepared to rightly divide the word of truth on these beliefs and dispel them. As it is now, both beliefs are already beginning to fall.
The “church asleep” must be awakened and come to understand that what we have been anticipating for the past 2000 years has now come upon us! Jesus the Christ as the Warrior King is returning! Its is getting very dark very quikly and I fear our opportunity for this work will be fleeting for “soon it will be night when no man can work” (John 9:4).
By Gods grace my hope is to continue to be used by Him during this time. I hope to do my part by immediately speaking the truth regarding all that I have said and inferred in this article.
The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” (Rev 22:17)
Father, give us your strength and protection as we believe and obey. Amen.
The Call has gone out!
